Central Laboratory of Power Generation
Machines
”CLaBME”
“CLaBME”
as a specialist laboratory is designed for testing
turbomachinery.
Its unique character results form the
fact that includes the only anechoic chamber for
aeroacoustic investigations in Poland, outputs of air flow,
volumes of water tanks, electrical power available and
measurement and control equipment that can be applied in
scientific experimental investigations and R&D activities.
“CLaBME”
comprises test stands, apparatus, installations, equipment
and the staff of:
-
Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics
-
Laboratory of Turbines and Compressors
-
Laboratory of Hydromachines
-
Laboratory of Automatics and Diagnostics
-
Laboratory of Flow Metrology
-
Laboratory of Medical Apparatus
-
Mechanical Workshop
Central Laboratory of Power Generation Machines ”CLaBME” is
equipped with:
Ø
LaVision
FlowMaster system which evaluates
three-dimensional
velocity vector fields from scattered light patterns of
particles or droplets seeded into the flow (liquid
or
gas). LaVision's FlowMaster camera systems can record
two successive images within min. time <100 ns for ultrafast
cross-correlation and speeds up to Mach 4. The PIV (Particle
Image Velocimetry) cameras offer highest sensitivity and
allow the use of very small particles (or droplets).
Applications: liquid and gas flow investigations in wind
tunnels, water channels, in-cylinder engines industrial flow
systems, compressors, turbines, fans, pumps, Micro Electro
Mechanical Systems (MEMS).
Main
data: frequency of laser pulse generation up to 10
KHz; pulse frequency – up to 2 x 200mJ; frequency of camera
transfer up to 3kHz.
Ø
unique
anechoic chamber (7.5 x 13.5 x 5.5 m) for aeroacoustic investigations of turbomachines at a free air
flow – the only one in Poland and unique in Europe,
Ø
electric supply system - power 2.5 MW and voltage 6 kV -
to drive compressors and pumps; the system comprises a gear
transformer 15/6/0.4 kV, electric engines (power from 0.8 to
2.0 MW), accumulators, starters, distribution and control
boards,
Ø
compressed air supply system: a three-stage CLARK compressor
(flow 5.8 kg/s at the pressure ratio 9 or 8 kg/s at the
pressure ratio 2.8) and a one-stage compressor (pressure
ratio 3, flow 14.4 kg/s) equipped with an acoustically
damped system of air inlets and outlets,
Ø
water system for oil cooling installation for compressors
and a closed water supply system for pumps, including: a
drilled pump, 28 and 50 m3 water tanks, and a
vertical water tank, 14-meter deep, to test drilled pumps,
Ø
fuel system for turboengine test stands with an exhaust
take-off system, automatic control board and measurement
cabin,
Ø
pressure tanks, installations, lifting jacks and a
mechanical & electric workshop to maintain machines,
installations and test stands,
Ø
wind tunnels
for blade profile investigations and probe
calibration for steady and unsteady flow measurements up to
Mach number 0.8 and a test stand to calibrate pressure
transducers,
Ø
test stands for investigations of non-conventional gas and
magnetic bearing systems, including test stands for active
control of rotating shaft vibrations,
Ø
system for automatic measurements of velocity, pressure and
temperature in steady and unsteady flows, apparatus for
contacless measurement of mechanical displacements and
determination of unsteady motion trajectory of shafts,
apparatus for measurement and analysis of mechanical
vibrations with codes for modal analysis,
Ø
system for collection and computer analysis of the
measurement results of parameters of the flowing liquid and
the atomized jet,
Ø
licensed ANSYS CFX 11.0 software plus auxiliary packages.
