On July 7th 2017 the student team GUST (Generative Urban Small wind Turbine) from the Institute of Turbomachinery, Lodz University of Technology, won the International Small Wind Turbine Contest in the Netherlands. In the contest final, the team competed with teams from the Netherlands, Denmark and Egypt. The competition was composed of assessment of the technical report, outcomes of the wind tunnel measurement session in the TU Delft University and a final presentation held at the NHL University of Applied Sciences in Leeuwarden. The GUST team presented the turbine with a rotor of 1.6m diameter attaining the power equal to 660W. The final rating was based on the turbine performance, innovation and future application potential.
