Power Engineering as a field of study

Power Engineering is a joint undertaking of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering, which aims to prepare students to become valued experts for the electric power sector.

Curriculum of this subject includes energy generating processes (in both machines and energy-generating devices); transfer of energy (electroenergetic grids); design, production technologies and exploitation of machines and energy-generating devices; petrochemical industry and heat and cooling technologies. Additionally, the subject contains the notions of renewable energy sources (heat pumps, wind turbines, photovoltaics) measuring techniques and industrial automatization.

On the first-cycle studies, students are offered two specializations:

Energy machines – steam and gas turbines, heat engines, compressors, refrigeration units and air conditioning units and systems.

Electroenergetics – technologies of generating electrical energy, distribution and transfer of that energy and electrical devices.

Our graduates have found prestige work opportunities:
Our graduates of Power Engineering have found employment both in the most significant corporations of energy and petrochemical industries - such as: Airbus Helicopters. ABB, General Electric, Siemens, Pratt&Whitney, PKN Orlen, Veolia Energia, PGE GiEK S.A. – but also in the smaller, local companies - WindTAK (wind turbines), Integrotech (gas transfer stations hardware) or Ispol-Projekt (power lines design and assembly).
