A successful Erasmus+ teaching visit paves the way for new international initiatives.
Between 15 and 19 June 2026, Dr Eng. Artur Gutkowski, Associate Professor and staff member of the Institute of Turbomachinery at Lodz University of Technology, completed a teaching visit at the Universidad de Valladolid (UVa) in Spain as part of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching (KA131) programme. The visit served both to deliver academic classes and to strengthen cooperation between Lodz University of Technology and UVa.
The Universidad de Valladolid is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Spain, playing a key role in the academic life of the Castile and León region. A particularly important partner for the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Lodz University of Technology is the School of Industrial Engineering, which offers education in mechanical engineering, energy, automation, engineering management and actively participates in international exchange programmes.
During his stay, Dr Artur Gutkowski conducted classes in English on thermodynamics and heat engineering for engineering students. He also presented the research activities of the Institute of Turbomachinery at Lodz University of Technology and selected projects carried out in the field of mechanical engineering, highlighting the institute’s research potential and opportunities for international collaboration.
The programme of the visit included meetings with staff of the partner university focused on exchanging experiences and discussing directions for further cooperation. The discussions covered opportunities to increase student and staff mobility within the Erasmus+ programme, as well as joint teaching and research initiatives.
An important part of the visit was familiarising himself with UVa’s teaching and research infrastructure and the solutions used to ensure high-quality education. Dr Gutkowski also assessed the support system for international students, which will help better prepare future mobilities and enhance cooperation between the two universities.
The information gathered during the visit provides a valuable basis for further developing collaboration between Lodz University of Technology and the Universidad de Valladolid. The visit will contribute to expanding mobility opportunities, strengthening academic relations and increasing the international visibility of both institutions.
