Malta, an island of remarkable identity and modern education, became the backdrop for a strategic visit by the LUT coordinator to MCAST, dedicated to analysing mobility conditions within the Erasmus+ cooperation.

Between 18 and 22 May 2026, Dr Eng. Dariusz Witkowski, a staff member of the Institute of Turbomachinery at LUT and the Erasmus+ Coordinator at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, completed a visit to the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) as part of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility programme (KA131). The visit was an important step in strengthening cooperation with a new international partner with whom Lodz University of Technology signed an Inter‑Institutional Agreement in 2024.

MCAST is one of Malta’s key educational institutions, offering full study cycles in English and equipped with modern laboratories, particularly in engineering and technology. The college maintains close collaboration with industry, including the aviation sector, which makes it an attractive mobility destination for LUT students.

During the visit, Dr Eng. Dariusz Witkowski carried out a detailed assessment of MCAST as a mobility partner. This included an audit of technical and aviation laboratories, an analysis of their alignment with the curricula of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at LUT, and an examination of the institution’s research facilities. An important part of the visit was also the evaluation of living conditions in Malta, including the availability of accommodation and the cost of living for students. The visit further provided an opportunity to review the quality assurance system in an English‑speaking academic environment and to learn about good practices in integrating industrial projects into study programmes.

The information gathered provides a solid basis for further evaluation of MCAST as a mobility partner and will support effective promotion of this new exchange opportunity as well as the continued development of cooperation between the institutions.
