In July this year, the 26th edition of the International Conference ''Computational Methods in Mechanics'' was held at the Lodz University of Technology. The organizer of this prestigious event, gathering participants from all over the world, is the Polish Society of Computer Methods in Mechanics.
The subject of the conference included the development and application of numerical methods and computer simulations in mechanics. These methods largely focused on the Finite Differences Method and touched on research issues in the field of mechanical, civil engineering, geodesy and transport, as well as environmental engineering and mining.
During the closing ceremony of the conference, led by the Chairman of the Organizing and Scientific Committee, Prof. Marek Kamiński, as part of the accepted tradition, the Prof. Jan Szmelter Award was presented to young researchers who presented their achievements at the conference. This year, the honorable first place was awarded to Jakub Bobrowski, a PhD student from the Institute of Turbo Machinery, for delivering the best paper.
