Student's Association of Motorization Enthusiasts begins recruitment for the project "Building of the Formula Student bolide"

An announcement about the enrollment for the "Building of the Formula Student bolide" project, which is planned to be attached by the Łódź University of Technology to non-competitive project of the Minister of Science: "The support of students in developing their abilities and skills" financed as a part of the Action 01.05 The Skills in higher education from the funds of
European Funds for Social Development Program 2021-2027.

The goal of this project is the support of students in developing their abilities and skills, increasing their scientific activity and innovativeness and creativity, by allowing them to compete in multinational competitions, contests and scientific conferences.

We want to start a new project on Łódź University of Technology, called Formula Student. If you have mechanics, electrical, programming, marketing or creative skills, want to develop the abilities you have learnt during your studies and want to build a bolide that will represent our university in Europe and all around the world, send your application!

For the project, we want to create three teams, for which we would need students with the abilities listed bellow:

Mechanics Division:

  • We are looking for people who have experience in other student groups or companies that involved mechanical work.
  • You have experience with CAD software, such as Inventor or Solidworks.
  • You have experience in engineering simulation software, such as Ansys.
  • You have technical and mechanics skills, such as experience with car mechanics, welding, material-processing machines, 3D printing and laminating.
  • Knowledge of aerodynamics

Electrics Division:

  • We are looking for people who have experience in other student groups or companies that involved electronics.
  • You have experience with sensors used in cars: how they are build, how they function and how they can be used.
  • Knowledge on how to tune combustion engines.
  • Knowledge about engine wire harness.
  • You know how to program microcontrollers.

Marketing Division:

  • We are looking for people who have experience in marketing of other student groups or companies.
  • Experience in managing social media.
  • Experience in contacts with sponsors.
  • Graphic design, movie and photo editing skills, as well as experience with software used for that purposes.
  • Photography skills

To join our project, you need to meet these requirements:

  1. You currently are, and you still will be for the remainder of the project's duration (until 31.12.2025), a student of a Łódź University of Technology on a first-level, second-level or full MA studies;
  2. You know at least one foreign language on a B2 level or higher (a legitimate certificate or a validation of an approved second-language instructor are necessary for the application. We will require an official document in paper or in a digital form for authentication).
  3. You have a positive review of an academic supervisor or a student group supervisor of your previous academic work. The review should confirm that you have the necessary potential and ambitions to compete in the future international competitions and contents and will take part in future conferences our student group will join. The review must be attached to your application in paper or in a digital form.
  4. You have filled out and attached to your application a CV, required by the Ministry of Science and  Higher Education, in accordance to the form available on its official website: https://www.gov.pl/web/nauka/zaproszenie-ministra-nauki-do-skladania-ofert-w-projekcie-wsparcie-studentow-w-zakresie-podniesienia-ich-kompetencji-i-umiejetnosci

THE CANDITATES WILL BE CHOSEN ON THE BASIS OF:

  • A. Possessing one or more of the skills listed above;

  • B. The awards and prizes they had received and their participation in international scientific conferences in the field of mechanical engineering;

  • C. Their contribution to academic conferences;

  • D. Their previous experience in scientific projects;

  • E.  The patents and utility models they have;

  • F. Their publications of academic papers in peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed scientific magazines (domestic and international), as well as their authorship or co-authorship of publications in the form of a book;

  • G. Other achievements, such as artistic, sport or social activity;

  • H. The written opinions of academic supervisors, mentors, content supervisors and the supervisors of student groups about the candidate's previous activity on the University.

Each suitable entry in the categories listed above can gain a candidate 1 point. The minimum required to join the project is 8, however the maximum of 40 candidates with the highest amount of points (according to the criteria listed above) will be prioritized from all the candidates. If multiple candidates would score the same amount of points, their scientific and research activities and their involvement in student associations and student groups will be considered.

The candidates chosen to join the project will be obliged to disclose their employment situation after the project's finalization: their status on the job market (in the time frame from the end of their membership in the project to the next 4 weeks), in accordance to the guidelines listed in the "Guidelines for monitoring the material progress of program implementation for 2021-2027" (the common direct result indicators).

The information about the results will be provided on the website of the Łódź University of Technology.

As the project is coordinated by SKNMM PŁ (Student's Association of Motorization Enthusiasts of the Łódź University of Technology), all the members of the project are also obliged to join the Student's Association.

The completion of the project by the University and the participation of the chosen students depends on the funds provided by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The project will only be realized after the agreement on the project's funding has been signed.
