PIV

In this station we use Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) system.

This system enables 3D measurements of the vectors of velocity fields using the diffusion of light by the particles or drops of the cultures of fluids and gasses. The camera system has the ability to record two subsequent images with an interval shorter than 100 per second and with an additional quick cross correlation, with the velocities reaching up to 4 Mach. The laser's utmost work frequency is 10 kHz, and camera's, with the highest resolution enabled, is 3 kHz.

The system allows a non-invasive measurements of velocity. It can be used in any channel that uses a fluid and a gas as a flow medium and in a channel with transparent outer walls.
